Can anyone say what Dan used for gear on last of the runaways? I really dug his tone and really admire him for his musicianship!

Dan was/is also a fan of the Kasha Rock Mod preamp (version 2 I believe), and Dyno Tri Stereo Chorus.

A number of years back I went down to Nashville (from Minneapolis) and hung out with Dann Huff in the studios, for two sessions. He had a mountain of gear at each session. His main guitar was the Tyler moded Strat, but he also had a Les Paul and Tele, and PRS axes.

His amp heads were Peavey Classic 50, a Fender head, and a Matchless. He had two fridge sized racks with preamps in one, and effects in the other, all controlled by a Bradshaw system.

I didn't ask him what he used on the Giant sessions, but he showed me at his house the room where he cut the demo's for Giant.

Dann was very gracious to allow me in to his world. He's an AMAZING guitar player, and a very nice guy. His sessions were mostly one-take, but at an Elton John session ("Duets" CD) he was run thru the ringer by Producer Barry Becket. However, Dann got it done beautifully!

Nowadays Dann is an extremely busy in-demand Producer. Good for him! He's doing a GREAT job on all his projects. His work with Keith Urban has really helped Keith get off to a big career. Way to go, Dann!

A must have for hardcore Huff fans is his instructional video he released
in the 90s on Warner Home Video.
It is fantastic!,Dann takes you through his rig, recording techniques, his
personal approach on songs and what producers may look for on a studio
date working with other artist,Performing several Giant tunes as well as
techniques he used on them.

kenji,

I had asked Dann if he was going to do a video for those curious about session work, and he said he'd been asked to, but hadn't gotten around to it. He must have gotten around to it...

Do you know where I can get this video? I've never seen it at Git Ctr. or other stores...
