Hey guys, I'm a new poster and I'm looking to expand my knowledge on amp/guitar construction and maintenance. If someone could recommend which tools are essential for beginners and any must read guides or books I'd be very grateful! Look forward to posting here quite a bit as this site is an incredible resource in itself.

For amps, the Jack Darr book is a great place to start: http://www.diyguitarist.com/Misc/J_Darr.htm

As far as must-read books, I think the Guitar Player's repair guide from Dan Erlewine is the best book I've ever had. It's just real easy to read and follow along with. For tools, there's more and more stuff available now since Amazon has made it possible for people to compete - before, StewMac dominated the business (and probably are the biggest still, but less so now), but now you can find options from Chinese / smaller manufacturers. This article shows a pretty comprehensive list of the most needed tools for a luthier: https://www.electricherald.com/guitar-repair-tools-diy/ - and it also recommends the same Dan Erlewine book! 8)
